Private First Class Brett A. Witteveen

Private First Class Brett A. Witteveen reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California, for basic training on January 17, 2006. After graduating basic training, he reported to the School of Infantry at Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, California. He graduated with the Military Occupational Specialty of a 0311 Rifleman. Upon graduation from Infantry Training school, he reported to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, 4th Marine Division, Grand Rapids, Michigan for his tour of duty. During his tour he served as a Rifleman.

In June of 2006, Private First Class Witteveen activated with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, 4th Marine Division, Grand Rapids, Michigan, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 5-7.2. Upon activation, he completed training at Camp Pendleton, California, and then in August of 2006, he went to Twenty-nine Palms, California for desert training and Mohave Viper. In September of 2006, Private First Class Witteveen arrived in Al Fallujah, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Private First Class Witteveen is survived by his father, Richard A. Witteveen.

Military Schools: Basic Training, School of Infantry.

Personal Decorations: Purple Heart Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Navy Unit Commendation.
